Balanced Kitchen
Grand Rapids, Mi
Modern Without Feeling Sterile
The homeowners wanted a more modern kitchen — but not one that felt cold or overly designed.
They wanted cleaner lines, better organization, and a brighter place to gather while keeping the warmth and comfort that already existed in the home.
That thinking shaped the project from the beginning.
The original kitchen felt closed in and lacked both natural light and intentional storage planning. Instead of jumping straight into finishes, we first focused on how the kitchen needed to function, feel, and support everyday life.
Early in the planning process, it became clear that natural light would completely change the space. Two new windows were added beside the range hood, helping the kitchen feel more open and connected to the home.
From there, every decision focused on balance.
Black lower cabinetry and a waterfall-edge quartz island introduced a more contemporary look, while warm wood tones kept the space grounded and comfortable. Storage was carefully planned around how the homeowners actually use the kitchen, improving organization and reducing clutter throughout the room.
The finished kitchen feels bright, modern, and easy to live in — designed not just to look good, but to feel right for the home and the family living in it.
