This project began after a house fire that destroyed most of the homeowner’s previous home. While the loss was significant, it created a rare opportunity: to step back and rethink what the home should be moving forward.

The goal wasn’t to replicate what was lost. It was to carry forward what mattered—while designing a home that felt calmer, more functional, and better connected to its surroundings.

The design centered on a modern approach, but with restraint. Clean lines and a neutral palette established clarity, while subtle wood tones in the flooring and cabinetry added warmth—keeping the home from feeling cold or overly minimal.

Expansive windows along the back of the home bring in natural light and frame views of the surrounding forest. Elevated ceiling heights reinforce that openness, creating a stronger connection between the interior and the landscape.

Every decision was made to balance simplicity with comfort.

The result is a home that feels grounded, functional, and built for what comes next—without losing sight of where it came from.
